And the Pantone color(s) of the 2016 are…

Wondering what Pantone is? Let me quickly give you a brief about them. They are based in the heart of New Jersey; they started by printing and would occasionally also manufacture paint, plastic and fabric. They are famous for its Pantone Matching System (PMS), where they produce a variety of hues each different from another. The idea of PMS is to allow the designers to color match a precise color. Now that you know who Pantone is let’s get started with the color of the year…

Every holiday season, we all wait for Pantone to announce the hue for the coming year. Well this year they surprised us by choosing not one but two colors for the year 2016 (for the first time ever). Seems 2016 is going to be a colourful year for all of us.

Read on to explore the two colors.

Rose Quartz

Up first we have Rose Quartz. This was a much predicted color this year and was also seen worn by many celebrities. Rose Quartz is a soft pastel rose pink hue and name is inspired by crystal stone also known as “the stone of love”. It is also believed to letting go of negative emotions and bringing positive vibes.

The color is very easy to incorporate in your daily routine; be it fashion, beauty, lifestyle or even home décor. I personally love this color because its simplicity and positivity.

Serenity

Color #2- Serenity– this is perfectly named calm, periwinkle blue. Well it is not very easy to incorporate but definitely worth the try. Serenity is buoyant and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.

Still eager to know why Pantone selected two colors this year. Well here’s what the executive director Leatrice Eiseman has to say “There is a certain ‘fluidity’ to the color combination as they are balanced tones of both warm and cool qualities”, she also added; “These are qualities that are recognized by both men and women as both sexes are embracing the combination more readily. It also speaks to a generation that is less concerned about the stereotypical view of color and applying them with a new and more open approach.”
